ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION AND INDEXING FOR RANKING OF UNDERGRAUATE PROGRAMMES
(Subject to changes as per the regulations/directions from University of Calicut)

  • Those candidates who are "Eligible for Higher Studies" as per the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or a pass in the equivalent examinations is the minimum criteria for admission to degree courses, unless otherwise specified. (U.O.No 2393/2015/Admn Dated:10.03.2015).
  • The Afsal-Ul-Ulama preliminary course is declared equivalent to the Plus Two Humanities Group. Therefore, all candidates passed Afsal -Ul-Ulama preliminary are eligible for admissions Humanities and Commerce programmes. (GO (rt).no.2165/2014H.Edn Dated: 03.06.2014).
  • The candidates who have qualified the HSE and VHSE of the Government of Kerala under 'SAY' scheme and Compartmental Examination of CBSE are also eligible for admission to first year degree courses in the same academic year. (U.O. No. GA I /A2/ 5753/2000 dated 14.05.2004 ).
  • The admission of the students who obtained the same index marks shall be decided first on the basis of age and then by name in alphabetical order unless otherwise specified. (U.O. No. GA1/A2/7226/2000 dated : 04-05-2001).
  • In the case of VHSE candidates for admissions to BA programmes, index marks shall be arrived at by taking the marks of all the papers except that of Vocational practicals and Internship Evaluation/Skill Evaluation Module. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015).
  • In the case of courses equivalent to Plus two of Kerala HSE and have maximum marks or grades not in line with that of Plus two of Kerala HSE, the same will be normalized to the maximum marks of Plus two of Kerala HSE and the rank list will be prepared accordingly. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015).
  • For admissions to BA programmes, the existing weightage of 25 marks shall be increased to 50, for those who have studied the subject concerned (mentioned in the present admission rule) in HSE or equivalent. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015)
  • For admissions to BA Philosophy programme, a weightage of 50 marks shall be awarded, to those students who have taken Philosophy/Logic/Psychology as optional subject at HSE or equivalent. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015).
  • A concession of 5% will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass.

PROGRAMMEWISE ELIGIBILITY & INDEXING RULE
LANGUAGES & LITERATURE

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission.

Index Mark : Total Plus Two marks + twice the marks secured Part II Arabic (i.e. Additional second languages) + 50 marks for History/Islamic Jurisprudence (Faqh and Aquaid)/Islamic History/History of Islam and history Arabic Literature + 20 marks for Part III Optional Arabic/Classical Literature Quran and Hadith in HSE or equivalent.

Tie Break : If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the Additional Second Language concerned . Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable.

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission.

Index Mark : Total Marks + Twice the marks secured in English. A weightage of 20 marks will be given to those who have studies English,Functional English or Communicative English as optional subject for HSE or an equivalent examination.

Tie Break : If there is a tie in the ranking, the priority will be given to those who got more marks in English. If there is again a tie, marks in second language are considered and then the general conditions are applicable.

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission.

Index Mark : Total Marks+Twice the marks secured in Additional Languages/Second languages concerned. A weightage of 20 marks will be given to those who have studied the Malayalam as optional subject for HSE or an equivalent examination with second language.

Tie Break : If there is a tie in the ranking, the priority will be given to those who got more marks in Additional/ Second language. If there is again a tie, more marks in English is considered and then the general conditions are applicable.

ARTS & HUMANITIES

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission.

Index Mark : Total Plus Two marks + a weightage of 50 marks for those who have studied Economics as optional subjects in HSE or equivalent.

Tie Break : If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the optional subjects concerned. Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in Additional/Second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable.

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission.

Index Mark : Total Marks + Twice the marks secured in English. A weightage of 20 marks will be given to those who have studies English, Functional English and Communicative English as optional subject for HSE or equivalent examination.

Tie Break : If these is a tie in the ranking, the priority will be given to those who got more marks in English. If there is again a tie, marks in Additional/ second language are considered and then the general conditions are applicable.

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% marks in aggregate shall be eligible for admission. A concession of (5%) will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass (Eligible for Higher Studies)

Index Mark : Total Plus Two marks + 50 marks for the papers Multimedia/ Multimedia and Webt Technology concerned optional only.

Tie Break : If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the optional subjects concerned. Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in additional second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable.

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission.

Index Mark : Total Plus Two marks + a weightage of 50 marks for those who have studied Sociology as option subjects in HSE or equivalent

Tie Break : If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the optional subjects concerned. Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in additional/Second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable.

COMMERCE & MANAGEMENT STUDIES

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least one commerce subject are eligible for admissions to the B.Com degree course. Candidates who have not studied commerce subject for Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination not less than 45% marks are also eligible. A concession of 5% will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass. (U.O. No.GAI/A2/1658/2007 dated 28.02.2008).

Index Mark : Total marks + 25 marks for each commerce papers subject to maximum of 50 marks. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied.

Index Mark : Total Part III + marks secured for Mathematics in the case of Science group with Mathematics as one of the subject AND Total Part III + marks secured for Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics in the case of other combinations without Mathematics as one of the subject. If the Candidates has studied both Mathematics and any one of the following subjects Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics then the marks secured for Mathematics or Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics which ever is higher will added.

Tie Break : If there is a tie in the index marks priority must be given to Mathematics/Computer Science as the case may be. If there is a tie again the marks of the second subsidiary subject marks of English and then the marks for second language will be considered before going to general conditions

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Mathematics group only are eligible for admission to Bsc Mathematics.

Index Mark : Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for the Mathematics for BSc Mathematics.

If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission (U.O. No.GAI/J1/628/2003 dated 15.05.2004)

Index Mark : Total marks obtained in the qualifying examination and a subject weightage of 15% of the marks scored for Psychology in the qualifying examination.

Tie Break : If there is a tie priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied in the case of Science students those who have not studied psychology with same index marks in the rank list, priority will be given to Biology students .In all other aspects general rule shall be followed.(vide U.O.No GAI/J2/3153/2007 Dated:21.06.2008)

Eligibility : Candidates who have studied science subjects at Plus two level are eligible for admissions to B.Sc programme in Geology, since Geology is taught as a subject at plus two level in both Science and Humanities stream, those candidates who have studied Geology at Plus two level are also eligible for admission. Index Mark : Science Stream :- The total marks obtained for Part III + highest marks scored for any one of the Science subjects i.e.Physics,Chemistry,Biology,Geology,Computer Science and Mathematics.
Humanities Stream :- The total marks obtained for Part III + marks obtained for the Geology

Tie Break : In case of tie preference shall be given as per the following order. 1. Candidates with Geology as one of the optional subjects. 2. Marks of Geology 3. Marks of Chemistry 4. Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Mathematics group or candidates who have studied Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Application etc with other combination at HSE level are also eligible for admission to Bsc Statistics. Index Mark : For calculating final index mark while ranking, 10% of index marks (Part III + Marks in Mathematics/Statistics) to be added as a grace mark for those students who are coming from Science stream with Mathematics as a subject. For students from other streams, the index mark is “Part III Marks + Marks in Mathematica/Statistics" .

Tie Break : If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secured more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied.

BVoc

Eligibility : Any candidate who passed the Plus Two examination of the Higher Secondary Board of Kerala or Pre Degree of Calicut University or Board of Examinations in any state recognized as equivalent to the Plus Two of the igher Secondary Board in Kerala

Index Mark : Plus Two Part III Subjects Total Marks + marks of Mathematics or Computer Science or Computer Application or Information Technology. In the case of students who have studied more than one subject mentioned above, add the highest mark obtained. An additional 25 marks will be awarded for VHS pass out students.

Tie Break :If there is a tie in the index marks priority must be given to Mathematics/Computer Science as the case may be. If there is a tie again the marks of the second subsidiary subject marks of English and then the marks for second language will be considered before going to general conditions

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent are eligible for admission.
